Impacting Mental Health Beyond School Walls

Cheryl PhillipsOur primary goal as educators is to help our kids learn. However, sometimes there may be something going on in their life that interferes with their ability to learn. Youth Mental Health First Aid helps teachers and other school personnel recognize the signs and symptoms of students who may be struggling and get students the help and support they need.

Our district trained over 90% of school personnel in one year. It was a lot of work to get there, but it was empowering. The impact goes beyond the school itself — the thousands of individuals trained carry that knowledge into the community to assist others who may be experiencing a mental health challenge. We are making a difference today, tomorrow and for years to come.
